Liberty Graduation 2027 Dates
Liberty University lists May 13 to 15, 2027 for Commencement. Its Future Commencement Dates page also says future dates are subject to change, so confirm the schedule on liberty.edu before paying for flights, travel, or other plans. The same page currently lists May 11 to 13 for Liberty University graduation 2028. Once the 2027 dates work for your family, request your stay at our house early.
What Commencement Weekend Looks Like
In a May 12, 2026 Liberty News report, Liberty expected more than 70,000 family members, friends, and guests to honor more than 32,000 members of the Class of 2026. That year included 27 separate degree presentation ceremonies across three days, Thursday through Saturday. The Main Ceremony was Friday at 7 p.m. in Williams Stadium.
Liberty's Commencement FAQ said no tickets were required for any Commencement activities in 2026. It also instructed graduates to arrive at their degree ceremony venue at least 30 minutes early, so families should plan to reach campus and find parking well in advance. For traffic and pedestrian safety in 2026, portions of University Boulevard, Regents Parkway, and Liberty University Drive were closed beginning at 7 a.m. each day, Thursday through Saturday. Confirm the 2027 schedule, arrival guidance, and traffic arrangements directly with Liberty before your trip.
Why a House Works for Graduation Weekend
Graduation brings a lot of people to the same table. Our house has four bedrooms across two levels, with three bedrooms on the main floor and one in the finished basement. It is set up for up to 14 guests. The dining table seats 14, so your group can share breakfast before ceremonies or gather for dinner afterward without waiting at a restaurant with a party of 14.
Before an early ceremony, breakfast happens in the full kitchen on your own clock. A fenced backyard gives everyone some breathing room, and the house is dog-friendly if a family dog is coming along. Four or more cars fit in the driveway. Campus is 0.9 miles away, about a 4-minute drive, while grandparents and siblings can still be under one roof.
When to Book
Our own booking records show that the earliest graduation-weekend booking we have taken came in nearly nine months ahead, while others arrived only days before the weekend. Request dates as soon as the 2027 schedule fits your plans. Our house is one listing, and once graduation weekend is booked it is gone.
Getting to Lynchburg
Lynchburg Regional Airport, LYH, is about ten minutes from our house. Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, ROA, is about an hour away. For families driving, Lynchburg is about three hours from Washington DC, two hours from Richmond, and four hours from Charlotte.
Where to Eat After the Ceremony
For a meal downtown after the ceremony, consider Depot Grille on 9th Street, The Water Dog on Jefferson Street, Bootleggers on the Lower Bluffwalk, My Dog Duke's Diner on Commerce Street, or Market at Main. If Family Stays a Few Extra Days
Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest is about 20 minutes away, and Percival's Island on the James River is closer, about 10. If the family wants a longer drive, the nearest Blue Ridge Parkway access is about 25 minutes out. Peaks of Otter, where the Sharp Top hike starts, is about 45 minutes by car.
